Payroll/Personnel Type: Fine Arts Sponsor/Coach Job #: xxx Supervisor Building Administration and/or Director of Athletics Classification Extra Duty/Stipend Location District/School Assignment Position Summary The Fine Arts Sponsor/Coach is responsible for supporting, supervising, and providing leadership for an assigned district sponsored fine arts program or activity. The position promotes student participation, skill development, creativity, collaboration, responsibility, and positive representation of the school and district. Fine Arts Sponsor/Coaches are expected to provide a safe, inclusive, organized, and student-centered environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism, supervision, communication, and conduct. This job description is intended to apply broadly to district-sponsored fine arts programs and activities and is not limited to a specific fine arts discipline.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Fine Arts Sponsor/Coach shall:
- Plan, organize, supervise, and facilitate practices, rehearsals, meetings, performances, competitions, exhibitions, events, and other activities associated with the assigned program.
- Provide appropriate instruction, guidance, and leadership to participating students.
- Establish clear expectations for student attendance, participation, behavior, preparation, and performance.
- Maintain appropriate supervision of students during all practices, rehearsals, meetings, performances, competitions, trips, and other program-related activities.
- Ensure students are appropriately supervised until released to an authorized adult, transportation, or other approved arrangement.
- Promote an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages student participation and belonging.
- Model and reinforce sportsmanship, professionalism, teamwork, responsibility, respect, and appropriate conduct.
- Follow all district and building procedures regarding facility use, scheduling, building access, equipment, transportation, and student supervision.
- Use district facilities only during approved and scheduled activities unless additional facility use has been authorized.
- Maintain and appropriately care for district equipment, supplies, uniforms, costumes, instruments, materials, facilities, and other program resources assigned to the activity.
- Communicate program schedules, expectations, changes, and other relevant information to students, families, administration, and appropriate staff.
- Work collaboratively with school administration, activity/athletic administration, teachers, staff, other sponsors/coaches, and community partners as appropriate.
- Assist with coordinating transportation, facilities, equipment, event needs, and other program logistics when applicable.
- Maintain accurate student rosters, attendance information, required forms, and other program documentation.
- Follow district procedures for fundraising, purchasing, financial activity, and handling district or student activity funds when applicable.
- Ensure students meet applicable school, district, conference, association, or governing-body requirements for participation.
- Follow applicable district policies, Board of Education policies, student handbook requirements, safety procedures, and state or governing-organization requirements.
- Complete all required district, state, association, safety, or activity-specific training and certifications applicable to the assignment.
- Promptly report student safety concerns, injuries, incidents, facility concerns, or other significant issues through the appropriate district procedures.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality regarding students and staff.
- Represent the school and district professionally at all times.
- Perform other duties related to the assigned fine arts program as directed by administration.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Demonstrated knowledge, experience, or competency appropriate to the assigned fine arts program or activity.
- Ability to effectively supervise and work with high school students.
- Strong communication, organizational, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, administrators, and community members.
- Ability to meet all district employment, background check, training, and certification requirements applicable to the position.
Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience working with students in a school, fine arts, extracurricular, performance, competitive, or activity-based setting.
- Previous coaching, sponsoring, directing, teaching, or leadership experience.
- Knowledge of applicable rules, standards, or expectations associated with the assigned activity.

Working Conditions The position may require work outside the regular school day, including evenings, weekends, performances, competitions, exhibitions, rehearsals, meetings, and special events. Travel may be required depending on the assigned program.
The position may also require standing for extended periods, moving equipment or materials, and performing other physical activities reasonably associated with the assigned program.
